Light In The Valley
This painting developed following being inspired by views and the effects of light in the Yorkshire Dales during springtime. Changing light at different times of the day caused views to change in appearance.
As this semi-abstract painting depicts, in a moment in the day, the sunlight appeared to be caught in the valley.
The outer edge of the painting has a softness to it, whilst the inner areas show use of livelier colours.
Painted using acrylic on a deep edge canvas, various layers were applied. Translucency mediums were used to help enhance the depiction of the effects of light causing an appearance of colours dancing and changing in the view. There is texture in places, particularly with the use of sand.
